It is the quickest way to accomplish your trek and has the encompassment of the best views of the Annapurna massif and trails that pass through many ethnic villages and settlements. The Annapurna region is one the most beautiful trekking destinations and the trails are adorned with gorgeous sights of the Himalayas along with natural decorations of nature’s finest elements. The Annapurna Base Camp Short Trek lets you excurse to the Annapurna Sanctuary and presents unusual encounters with the flora and fauna of the Annapurna region. Blessed with lush forests and verdant woodlands, the Annapurna region is rich and brimming with natural biodiversity. The Annapurna Base Camp short Trek has trails that go through blossoming rhododendron forests and vastly majestic florescent meadows to have the views of the cerulean mountain peaks of Annapurna emerge in the distance like an ivory tapestry of Himalayas. Commencing the trek from the ethnic Magar village, you would be able to have a closer look at the people’s unique traditions and cultures. Many ethnic people have settlements along the trekking path and as you move further along the path, you would be coming across Gurung and Thakali people as well. Getting to know about their culture, customs, rituals and practices are fascinating as their way of life at the secluded villages are vastly different than the ones from the city.
The trails have marvelous views of terrace farmlands as well, and as you move along the trekking path- you can see people working on the rice farms. The terrace farms are like natural emerald steps that are enveloped with the brightest shade of green. The alpine vegetation of the region is also something that adds to the mysticism of the region as the oak and maple trees seem to cover entire hills and look formidable from a distance. As you reach the base camp, you would be rewarded with views of the Annapurna massif and many of its surrounding peaks like the Annapurna I, the Annapurna II, the Annapurna IV, Mount Nilgiri, the Machhapuchhre Peak, the Dhaulagiri Peak and many others. Above the village, the trail climbs gently through pastures and cultivated fields. There is a camp site for rest and water stops one hour’s walk above Ulleri. The trail crosses two sparking streams before making a short, final climb to Nangethanti where you will stop for lunch. “Thanti” is a Nepali word that translated to “Rest house”. In the winters, the trail is usually covered in snow. From Nangethanti, you will then climb to Ghorepani which lies at the altitude of 2850 meters. From here, you can see spectacular panoramic views of the Dhaulagiri Peak (8167m), the Tukuche Peak (6940m), Annapurna I (8091m), the Hiunchuli Himal (6441m) and the Tarke Kang Himal (7139m).
