Day 01: at Tribhuwan International Airport, Kathmandu
As you arrive at Tribhuwan International Airport, you will be greeted by one of Escape Himalaya’s representatives. You will then be driven to your hotel where you can check in and relax as you have nothing else planned for the day. The representative will also explain the program further to you. Day 02: Kathmandu Valley Sightseeing Tour
On this day, you will get to travel around sites enlisted in the UNESCO World Heritage list. You will visit Kathmandu Durbar Square, where we will discern several temples with unique arts. Visiting the Pashupatinath Temple, the chief temple of Hindus dedicated to Lord Shiva; the Bouddhanath Stupa, the largest stupa on Earth and the Swayambhunath Stupa, lying at hillock, also named as the Monkey Temple are all sure to appeal with their artistic integrities and past wonders and rich history. Day 03: Fly to Bhadrapur and transfer to Darjeeling (150 km), Duration: 5 hrs
We will fly to Bhadrapur on this day in the morning. A representative from Escape Himalaya will receive you from Nepal Border and help you drive to Darjeeling. Darjeeling, lying 2134m high, bestows the grand Himalayan peak views. Due to the perfect climate of Darjeeling, it is popular for tea plantations and gains its name as 'Champagne of the East'. Day 04: Sight-seeing Tour around Darjeeling
This is your second day in Darjeeling and you will enjoy exploring around. You will start the tour early in the morning to witness sunrise view from Tiger Hill situated at 2,585m height and the peak views, especially the Kanchenjunga Range is captivating to look at. Then, you will visit the Ghoom monastery built by Lama Sherab Gyatsho in 17th century. Here, you will notice the splendid figure of “the future Buddha” named as Maitreya. We will also make a trip to the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute which encourage mountain climbing as a planned sport in India; the Tibetan Refugee Centre, rehabilitation centre in the hill region for the Tibetan refugees; and the Zoological Park on this day. Day 05: Darjeeling - Gangtok (98 km), Duration: 4 hours
From Darjeeling, we will drive to Gangtok which takes around 4 hours. Gangtok, the capital of Sikkim, fuses the past and present glory together splendidly. It embraces several stupas and monasteries and has lots to offer for visitors. Overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 06: Sight-seeing Tour around Gangtok
Exploring Gangtok is another highlight of Nepal Bhutan Darjeeling Tours. We will visit the Rumtek Monastery set around 24 km from Gangtok which has traditional designs in its architecture. We will also make a trip to the Enchey Monastery built on the mark blessed by the holy person- Lama Druptab Karpa which is 200 years old. Visiting the Institute of Tibetology and Cottage Industry is another marvelous part of the tour which will let you know about the Buddhist philosophy and observe rare ‘Thanka’ paintings, statues and more than 200 Buddhist images. Day 07: Gangtok – Excursion to Tsomgo Lake, Duration: 2 & ½ hrs
Leaving Gangtok, we will have an excursion to Tsomgo Lake which is one of the holy lakes for the people of Sikkim and is located approximately 400 km from Lhasa and 20 km away from the popular Nathula Pass (4310m) which connects China's Tibet Region with Sikkim. We will also visit the small temple built on the lakeside which is dedicated to Lord Shiva. Tsomgo Lake, which is approximately 50 ft. deep, bestows a perfect exquisiteness. Day 08: Gangtok – Phuntsholing (227 km), Duration: 6 hrs then enter Bhutan
From Gangtok, we will move across the Coronation Bridge and reach the border of Phuntsholing. In Phuntsholing, Escape Himalaya’s representative will assist you to finish entry formalities and then we will enter Bhutan. Phuentsholing is located at the foot of the Himalayas and shows up fusions of Bhutanese and Indian culture. Overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 09: Phuentsholing - Thimphu
On this day, we will have a long yet beautiful journey to Thimpu since you will get to see a number of cascades on the way. At Chhuzom (which means union), you will notice Thimpu and Paro rivers uniting. Driving for some time, you will reach the capital city of Bhutan- Thimpu. Overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 10: Thimphu - Punakha
We will have a sightseeing tour around Thimpu. We will make a trip to the Memorial Chorten which is also named as the Thimpu Chorten located in Doeboom Lama. Likewise, we will visit the Changangkha Monastery set on an edge on top of central Thimpu, founded in the 12th century; and visit the Nunnery temple, a Buddhist monastery situated in Zilukha. We will also visit the traditional paper factory, glorious Tashichhodzong and the massive Buddha sculpture, which is considered the biggest Buddha statue in the world. Then, we will experience a lovely drive to Punakha which bestows amazing views of the Himalayas. We will also drive through the rhododendron, hemlock and fir jungles. You will get there at Punakha after driving through the shores of the Punakha River and going across rice field. Overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 11: Punakha - Paro
On this day, you will visit the Punakha Dzong. While driving to Paro, en-route, you will explore around the Metshina Village as well for some time and walk by rice fields. We will also visit the Chimi Lhakhang, a temple devoted to the Devine Madman or Lama Drukpa Kuenley- the idol of fertility. Then, driving ahead, we will reach Paro. Overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 12: Hike to Tiger’s Nest Monastery
We will, on this day, hike to the renowned Taktsang Monastery, also identified as Tiger’s Nest, situated 10,400 feet high. Traversing up the steep rock face at about 3,000 feet on top of the Paro Valley, you would be bestowed with natural beauties that are captivating. Myth tells that Guru Rinpoche, one of the spiritual masters, had landed there to meditate, flying on the back of a tigress. We can go for shopping in Paro as well. Overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 13: Depart Paro
After having an amazing experience, we will transfer back to Kathmandu on this day. Overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 14: Farewell
One of the representatives from Escape Himalaya will drop you off at the airport from where you will depart today.
