The Jomsom Muktinath Trek begins with a drive to Pokhara, the short journey filled with vibrant environments of rich hills enveloped in the jades of the forest. Driving to Nayapul, you would walk through magnificent blossoms of rhododendrons and foxgloves, the terrain adorned with blooms of poppies and blue hydrangea. Oak and Birch trees grow tall and strong, contributing to the mysticism of the land. Making your way up to the village if Ulleri, you would be drifting by stony steps and boulders to reach Ghorepani- where you can feel the chill in the mountain weather. Hiking to Poon Hill (3210m), you would be subjected to glorious sights of the rising Sun from amidst the magnificent Himalayas, changing the color of the peaks from ivory to a burning saffron. The striking view of the Annapurna Mountain Range from the vantage point at Poon Hill is breath-taking!
Moving along further in the Jomsom Muktinath Trek, you would be passing settlements like Ghasa, occupied by Thakali people. Villages like Lete, Kokethanti and Tukuche will be excursed until you reach the dainty village of Kagbeni; a charming settlement located on the old trans-Himalayan business trail. Most importantly, the trek takes you to the holy temple of Muktinath as well as several other monasteries within the Muktinath area. The religious temples and monasteries are devoted and dedicated to Lord Vishnu and Lord Buddha. Day 01 Arrive at Tribhuwan International Airport, Kathmandu
As you arrive at the Tribhuwan International Airport, our airport representative from Escape Himalaya will pick you and help you get transferred to hotel. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 02 Drive to Pokhara (910 m) by tourist bus, Duration: 6 hrs
We will, on this day, drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara, which takes around 6 hours. On the way, we will drive- passing the Trishuli and the Marshyangdi Rivers, view landscapes adorned with rice terraces, lush valleys and rocky gorges. In Pokhara, we can have an interlude while boating on the scenic Fewa Lake with backdrops of the Machhapuchhre and the Annapurna Himalaya Ranges. Overnight at the hotel. Breakfast included.
Day 03 Drive to Nayapul (1,010m), Duration: 1 hour and Trek to Tikhedhunga (1,570m), Duration: 4 hrs
We will continue our journey from Pokhara and drive to Nayapul, which takes around an hour. We will also pass through the Birethanti village set at the intersection point of the Bhurungdi River and the Modi River. Subsequently, we will walk through magnificent rhododendron and oak woods. We will walk across the Bhurungdi River to reach Tikhedhunga, which takes approximately 4 hours. Overnight at a Guesthouse, breakfast, lunch and dinner included.
Day 04 Trek to Ghorepani (2850m), Duration: 7 hrs
From Tikhedhunga, we will walk down and ascend all the way up to the Ulleri village, passing several stony steps and boulders. We will then reach Ghorepani- which in Nepali language means “horse-water”. The set used to be a resting spot for traders. Ghorepani is set rather higher where we can feel the chilly weather, particularly in the evenings. Overnight at Guesthouse, breakfast, lunch and dinner included.
Day 05 Hike up to Poon Hill (3,210m/10529ft) and onto Tadapani (1200m), Duration: 7 hrs
We will hike up from Ghorepani to Poon Hill on this day. We will begin our walk early in the morning to reach the best viewpoint, Poon Hill at the height of 3210m. Poon Hill offers spectacular sunrise views above the striking Annapurna and Dhaulagiri Himalayan ranges. With an awesome experience from Poon Hill, we will return to Ghorepani. Also, we will pass along the edges of verdant pine and rhododendron forests. After walking for only some hours, we will reach Tadapani. Overnight at a Guesthouse, breakfast, lunch and dinner included.
Day 06 Trek to Ghasa (2120m), Duration: 7 hrs
We will today, follow the Kali Gandaki River and keep on walking to the Rupse Chahara, which means “beautiful cascade”. Also, we will pass by Kopche Pani, and our trail ascends further to Ghasa, which is occupied by Thakali people. You can also explore around the village and know about the way of life of the Thakali people here. Ghasa is like heaven for the bird watchers because of its opulent abundance of exotic birds that have their habitat here. Overnight at Guesthouse, breakfast, lunch and dinner included.
Day 07 Trek to Tukuche (2560m), Duration: 5 hrs
We will, on this day, traverse the Kali Gandaki gorge, as well as cross over Rivers many times by means of long suspension bridges. We will walk by several villages including Lete, Kokethanti and Kalopani. On the way, we will see views of the stunning Dhaulagiri peak on the west side. Trekking further, we will reach Tukuche. Overnight at Guesthouse, breakfast, lunch and dinner included.
Day 08 Trek to Kagbeni (2800m), Duration: 5 hrs
Walking ahead from Tukuche, we will walk to the Khobang village, which embraces narrow tunnels between houses. We can also visit the Kanti-Gompa on the way and walk to Marpha; one of the most significant destinations for apple as well as apple produces. We will keep on walking along the valley side, rising steadily before traversing a ridge to Jomsom Village. We will also walk across the Panga River to get to Ekle Bhatti and continue walking to the Kali Gandaki River. Then, we shall walk to Kagbeni set in between two rivers. Kagbeni is a charming village located on the old Trans-Himalayan trade trails from Upper Mustang area to Tibet. Overnight at Guesthouse, breakfast, lunch and dinner included.
Day 09 Trek to Muktinath (3800m), Duration: 4 hrs
Our journey begins through the riverbank of Kali Gandaki. On the way, we will also pass by scenic striking places and move up steeply to unite with the direct trail that takes us to Khingar lying at 3200m. The path also climbs through a barren region to Jarkot Village. Climbing further on, we will reach Muktinath. Overnight at Guesthouse, breakfast, lunch and dinner included.
Day 10 Trek to Jomsom (2600m), Duration: 5 hrs.
We will visit Muktinath in the morning and excurse some monasteries of the area. The temple is devoted to Lord Vishnu and here, we will also see 108 water taps around it. We will then, walk to Jomsom. Overnight at Guesthouse, breakfast, lunch and dinner included.
Day 11 Morning flight to Pokhara, Duration: 20-minutes.
We will take a morning flight to Pokhara from Jomsom. Pokhara is an eye-catching city known as ‘Lake City’. Here, you can also go for sightseeing. At the hotel, we can just relax for this day. Overnight at the hotel. Breakfast included.
Day 12 Pokhara to Kathmandu
We will drive from Pokhara to Kathmandu, which takes approximately 6 hours. Then, you will be transferred to the hotel. At hotel, you can just loosen up for this day. Overnight at the hotel. Breakfast included.
Day 13 Farewell
Accomplishing the Jomsom Muktinath Trek in Annapurna Region, you will return back from Nepal. We will also assist in your transfer to the airport from where you will fly back.
