Beginning the trip from Lhasa, you would be exploring around the Sera Monastery founded by Tsong Khapa. You will also be visiting the Norbulingka Palace, also known to many as “The Jeweled Park”. Circumbulating around the Jokhang Temple, you would be presented with the opportunity to excurse one of the most sacred pilgrimage sites for Tibetan Pilgrims. Adding to the memorabilia, you will have a look at the esteemed Potala Palace as well, the winter palace of Dalai Lama and excurse to the Drepung Monastery, one of the largest monasteries in the world.

While driving to Shegar, you will be moving across the highest pass of the tour, the Gyamtso La situated at the elevation of 5220m. You will also be traversing to other two high passes, the Shung La Pass (5200m) and Lalung La pass ( 5124m high) on the way to Zhangmu, which presents the most wonderful views of peaks including Melungtse, Gauri Shankar, Shishapangma and Cho Oyu among many others.

Day 01: Arrive at Tribhuwan International Airport, Kathmandu
As you arrive at Tribhuwan International Airport, you will be greeted by one of Escape Himalaya’s representatives. You will then be driven to your hotel where you can check in and relax as you have nothing else planned for the day. The representative will also explain the program further to you. Day 02: Kathmandu Valley Sightseeing Tours
You will be undergoing the Kathmandu Valley Sightseeing Tours on this day and will go around an excursion to the cultural heritage sites enlisted in the World Heritage Sites List by UNESCO. Visiting the Bouddhanath Stupa, the largest stupa on Earth, you would be presented with a tranquil serenity of the place of worship. The holy Pashupatinath Temple, a crucial temple for Hindus dedicated to Lord Shiva, you will be able to have a look at the crematory ritual of the Hindus on the bank of the holy river of Bagmati and will also see sights of various priests and Sadhus on the premise of the holy temple. The Kathmandu Durbar Square is speckled with temples ornamented with unique arts and idiosyncratic Nepali architecture. The Swayambhunath Stupa, also known as the Monkey Temple, located at a hillock presents a beautiful experience of excursing around the temple. Day 03: Fly from Kathmandu to Lhasa
We will, on this day, fly from Kathmandu to Lhasa to begin our Lhasa to Kathmandu Tour. Lhasa lies at the altitude of 3660m in Tibet. It presents breathtaking views of the highest mountains like Everest (8848m), Kanchenjunga (8536m) and a number of other Himalayan ranges. As you reach the Gongar Airport, you will drive to Lhasa, which takes approximately 2 hours to do. The rest of the day, we will just relax. Day 04: Sightseeing Tour in Lhasa
We will, on this day, experience a sightseeing tour in Lhasa. We will explore the Sera Monastery. The word “Sera” means “Wild Rose”. The name has been given to the monastery since the hills behind it were brimming with wild roses when it was constructed. Then, we will visit the Norbulingka Palace, which is also named as “the Jewel Park”. We will also walk around Jokhang Temple, one of the important pilgrimage sets for Tibetan Pilgrims enlisted in UNESCO's World Heritage list. It is surrounded by Barkhor, which is the central marketplace in Lhasa. Overnight stay at the Hotel, breakfast, lunch and dinner included.
Day 05: Second day sightseeing tour in Lhasa
This is the second sightseeing day in Lhasa. We will explore the Potala Palace which is the winter Palace of Dalai Lama, is 3-storeyed and occupies more than 13 hectares of area. Likewise, we will also make a trip to the Drepung Monastery, constructed in the 14th century and is identified as the largest monastery in the world. Overnight stay at the Hotel, breakfast, lunch and dinner included.
Day 06: Drive to Shigatse (3900m/12792ft)–350 km, Duration: 7 hrs
We will, on this day, drive to Shigatse from Lhasa which takes 7 hours to do. While driving, we will follow the Tsangpo River and then reach Khampa La, lying at the height of 15,700ft. The awesome scenery of the Yamdrok Lake beneath and the Ningdzingzonka- the massive snow topped peak will completely allure us. We will, after that, move along the lake and then drive to Gyantse, where we will explore around the well-known Pelkor Monastery. The monastery area has a compound structures, including the Kumbum, which is identified as the largest structure in Tibet and holds the old Dzong or fort. Overnight stay at the Hotel, breakfast, lunch and dinner included.
Day 07: Sightseeing & drive to Shegar (4050m), 244km
We will pass along the Friendship Highway as we depart from Shigatse today. Also, we will pass by isolated monasteries. After that, we will walk transversely through the highest pass of the tour, the Gyamtso La, located at the altitude of 5220m. Then, we will walk down to the bleak majesty of the plains. Overnight stay at the hotel, breakfast, lunch and dinner included.
Day 08: Drive to Zhangmu (2300m)-245 km, Duration: 5 hrs
This is one of the important days of the trek as we will be driving through two high passes of Shung La pass set at the height of 5200m and the Lalung La pass which is 5124m high. On the way, you will be greeted by the wonderful views of the peaks including Shishapangma, Melungtse, Gauri Shankar and Cho Oyu among many others. Then, you will move down from the dry Tibetan highland to lush Zhangmu, set on the Nepalese border. We will travel for around 5 hours on this day. Overnight stay at the hotel, breakfast, lunch and dinner included.
Day 09: Drive to Kathmandu (1337m)-123 km, Duration: 5 hrs
This is our last day in Tibet. We will drive to Kathmandu from Zhangmu with an awesome memory. On the way, we will traverse the Friendship Bridge lying at the Nepal-China border above the Bhote Koshi River. We will have some custom formalities and then continue driving to Kathmandu taking around 5 hours. Overnight stay at Kathmandu.
Day 10: Farewell
One of the representatives from Escape Himalaya will drop you off at the airport from where you will depart today.
