    Overview

Lower Mustang Trek lets you experience the multitude of diverse ethnic groups in the Mustang region up close. With settlements occupied by Gurung, Thakali, Magar, and more, the trekking route of the Lower Mustang adorns impressive cultural pulchritude. You will get an insight into the local people's myriad distinctive cultures and lifestyles. The arid land topography of Mustang is also vastly different than the rest of the trekking destinations.

The terra firma of Mustang is barren, with little to no vegetation or foliage. As a result, trekking at the lower Mustang presents an entirely amethyst trail. You will also explore the holy temple of Muktinath, sacred to Hindu and Buddhist people. Amidst all these variances, the Lower Mustang Trek presents a unique terrain with a pleasant presentation of various ethnicities and splendid mountain views.

Beginning your trek from Pokhara, you would be driving to Nayapul, a village near the Lake-side city. Trekking along the shores of the Modi River, you would be hiking through cultural terrains to get to Birethanti. Dainty settlements like Hille and Tikhedhunga will approach as the trials further out from Birethanti. Traversing this beautiful trail becomes a bit difficult as you finally reach Ulleri.

The trekking trail is adorned magnificently by the colorful canopy of lush rhododendron flowers and alpine vegetation. You will get a marvelous view of the Annapurna Himalayas upon reaching Ghorepani. The celestial sunrise behind the magnificent mountains from Poon Hill is simply an out-of-this-world experience. Mountain peaks like Machhapuchhre, Hiunchuli, Nilgiri, Annapurna I, and Dhaulagiri, among many others, are captivating.

Passing along the settlement of Ghasa, you will observe the cultures and traditions of the Thakali people who live there. Villages like Kokethanti, Kalopani, and Lete along the trekking trail present an opportunity to watch people's practices and customs. The beguiling view of the Dhaulagiri Himal is a lasting company as it seems like a colossal giant in the distance, keeping its vigil.

Walking through Marpha is another beautiful experience as you savor the delicacy of various Apple products. Visiting the Muktinath Temple, monasteries, and several attractions are key highlights of the trek. The Muktinath Temple is devoted to Lord Vishnu, where one hundred and eight water taps pour happily around it. The settlements and residents of the Mustang region are generally untouched by modernization. It has helped keep their age-old ancient cultures and traditions intact. The Lower Mustang Trek enables you to discover and experience these cultures, which are so vastly different from anything else. Likewise, have a closer look at the culture, lifestyle, and traditions of the people in Lower Mustang.

Indeed, the Lower Mustang Trek will be an unforgettable experience. Escape Himalaya provides an excellent rendering of services to its customers, and we ensure that our customers get the optimal context on their trekking journeys. This Short Mustang Trek incorporates all of the beautiful natural and cultural quintessence of the Mustang Region in a relatively short time.

    Alternatives!

Alternatively, you can go on Upper Mustang Trek for an extended journey to Lo Manthang. We also operate Mustang Tiji Festival Trek, which lets you observe an auspicious festival celebration of locals with a magical trip alongside. You can either opt for a customized itinerary to suit your needs and requirements as you wish to do.

      Gorgeous Views!

Excellent trekking experience with Escape Himalaya to Kala Patthar! Everything went seamlessly, and my guide ensured we were safe and comfortable at all times, even in the high altitude. Will definitely choose EH again when I am back in Nepal for more hiking! The country is so beautiful and just has so much to offer!

Amazing Manaslu Circuit with Phurba & Ram

Just back from a fantastic 2 week trek around the Manaslu Circuit including Larke Pass (5100m). The weather was perfect and the views were outstanding!!

Our guide Phurba Sherpa was excellent. Super knowledgeable and helpful at all times and always made sure we had a fantastic trip.

Our porter, Ram Badhadur Magar was also a rockstar. He was super professional and always arrived before us every day. He was also super friendly and helpful too.

Thanks to Phurba, Ram for always smiling and for a fantastic trip. Would highly recommend them to anyone interested in trekking in Nepal

      Everest base camp trek - Mar-Apr 2024

My 60 year old pals set out in hope on this adventure. In late March. We had our guide Raj Kumar and two porterd Janak and Ramesh. All three were stars. We changed our schedule - no problem. I would not have made it without Raj. I cannot thank him enough. Janak often took my back pack on steep climbs where I was struggling. This is a truly majestic and spiritual trek and I would encourage using Escape Himalaya and request this team of guide and porters if you want to give yourself the best chance of finishing and making best use of your time.

Yes, most travelers need a visa to enter Nepal. However, the process for obtaining a visa depends on your nationality. You can either obtain a visa from the diplomatic consulate office of Nepal in your respective country or apply for an “On Arrival” visa at the entry checkpoints of Nepal. Indian nationals do not need to have a visa to enter Nepal however they need to bring an official document such as a Passport or Election card (issued by the Election Commission) that proves their identity.

Q2. Which one is better: Group or Solo (private) trek?

Escape Himalaya offers both group and solo trek to Everest Base Camp. However, to choose to join which tour style completely depends upon the traveler itself.

If you are happy to meet people from other parts of the world and join in an experience of a lifetime with fellow travelers, then going for a group trek is also best.

However, if you prefer freedom and flexibility, trekking solo (private) will give you the independence to set your own pace and choose your itinerary. You will have the flexibility to make spontaneous decisions. You will not be bound by a group schedule and choose to lead your journey as you wish and even modify the plan if needed.

Escape Himalaya's cancellation policy states that the initial 20% deposit made upon booking is non-refundable and will be considered a cancellation fee. This policy is effective immediately upon booking confirmation. If you cancel your trip, this deposit is retained by Escape Himalaya.

However, if you have paid more than the 20% deposit, the cancellation fee will be reduced to 20%, and the remaining balance will be refunded via the original payment method.

Alternatively, they offer a flexible postponement policy. You can postpone your trip without any additional charge if you notify them at least one day before the scheduled departure. This allows you to reschedule your trip to a later date without losing your deposit.
