    Overview

Nepal has hundreds of holy sites, mainly for Buddhists and Hindus, among many other casts and ethnicities. Many of the sites are exceptional parts of the history and culture of Nepal, with most of them in Kathmandu Valley, which is on the UNESCO World Heritage Sites list. Further, it encompasses the city's important sites and lets you explore these heritage sites optimally. Indeed our Kathmandu Day Tour package is one of the best sightseeing trips in Nepal.

During the Kathmandu Valley Day Tour, you will explore striking temples decorated opulently and intricately carved, old Royal Palaces grand in their tenure, monasteries, gumbas, chortens, Bihars, and more. You will visit the holy Pashupatinath Temple, Kathmandu Durbar Square, Bouddhanath Stupa, and Swayambhunath Stupa around Kathmandu City.

Kathmandu Durbar Square is a jewel in the city's symbolic crown. It has shrines from the 12th century, the Living Goddess home- Kumari, the ornate Hanuman Dhoka Palace, and more.

Likewise, visiting the Bouddhanath Stupa, identified as one of the largest Stupas, is a fantastic experience. The serenity at the Stupa is breathtaking, and the sight of the Stupa's towering golden spire presents a marvelous view; the golden of the spire contrasts magnificently with the cyan of the sky.

The Pashupatinath Temple, one of the most significant Hindu temples, is enveloped in a religious ambiance.

The Swayambhunath Stupa, lying on the top of a hill, is also quite an alluring destination and has an incredible story about its origins rich in history.

Moreover, Kathmandu Sightseeing clenches a magnetic sightseeing experience for numerous visitors, familiarizing them with cultural and architectural glory.

Escape Himalaya takes you through these religious sites and ensures you become well-informed about them. Join us in this sightseeing venture to observe and explore the holy places of an ancient city. You can also opt for our Bhaktapur Patan Day Tour packages.

    Detail Itinerary

Full Day Kathmandu Sightseeing Tour of 4 UNESCO World Heritage Sites

Drive to Basantapur & Visit Kathmandu Durbar Square

Kathmandu Durbar Square is brimming with the oldest temples and old Palaces that reflect the country’s bygone era of monarchial rulings. It is heavy with nostalgia and reminiscences of days gone by.

Built in a unique Pagoda style, the temples, and Palaces are luxuriously decorated and lavishly carved with intricate designs. One of them dates back to the 3rd century and will fascinate you. The Hanuman Dhoka Palace in the Square, built by King Pratap Malla, was used for royal ceremonies till 2001.

We can also notice the abode of Kumari (Living Goddess). At the top, it is the most attractive beautiful carvings of erotic arts in the Bhagwati Temple, Shiva Parvathi Temple, Saraswati Temple, and more.

    Drive to Swayambhunath Stupa/Monkey Temple

Leaving Kathmandu Durbar Square, we will take a 25-minute drive towards Swayambhunath Stupa (The Monkey Temple) which lies 3 km west on the top of a hillock, bestowing the views of Kathmandu Valley. It is Nepal’s most popular and holiest Buddhist Stupa, which holds several other shrines.

Embracing Hindu temples, the area of Swayambhunath Stupa is a mark of religious tolerance between Hindus and Buddhists. You will see spinning prayer wheels and Buddha’s eyes on the four sides of the Stupa. Likewise, the atmosphere here is serene, bringing with it the coruscate offerings of peace.

Drive to Bouddha & Explore Bouddhanath Stupa

Moving next on your tour, you'll be taking another 30-minute drive to Bouddhanath Stupa is famous as one of the largest Buddhist stupas on Earth. The stupa is 8.4 km away located on the eastern border of Kathmandu Valley. The Stupa was constructed in the 14th century on an octagonal base and is encircled by prayer wheels carved beautifully with Buddhist prayers. It also holds the ever-present Buddha eyes on all four sides of the stupas.

Festooned with colorful prayer flags hung from the base to the top of the Stupa is beautiful. Observing monks with maroon outfits and shaven heads chanting mantras in the serene set will amaze anyone.

Drive to Gaushala to Visit Pashupatinath Temple

The Pashupatinath Temple perched almost 3 km from Boudhhanath Stupa, is one of the holiest temples for Hindus and Lord Shiva’s devotees worldwide. We will take a short drive to visit the pagoda-style temple which holds golden roofs with silver doors and lies on the banks of the sacred Bagmati River.

During the Maha Shivaratri Festival, the temple is full of devotees to worship the stone Linga, a symbol of Lord Shiva. You can also observe the rituals of the cremation of the Hindus at the bank of the river.

      Everest base camp trek - Mar-Apr 2024

My 60 year old pals set out in hope on this adventure. In late March. We had our guide Raj Kumar and two porterd Janak and Ramesh. All three were stars. We changed our schedule - no problem. I would not have made it without Raj. I cannot thank him enough. Janak often took my back pack on steep climbs where I was struggling. This is a truly majestic and spiritual trek and I would encourage using Escape Himalaya and request this team of guide and porters if you want to give yourself the best chance of finishing and making best use of your time.

    FAQS

    Expand All (4)

Q1. Do we need a visa before coming to Nepal?

Yes, most travelers need a visa to enter Nepal. However, the process for obtaining a visa depends on your nationality. You can either obtain a visa from the diplomatic consulate office of Nepal in your respective country or apply for an “On Arrival” visa at the entry checkpoints of Nepal. Please click this link to get more information on ways to issue a tourist visa. Also please see the visa fee here below:

On-Arrival Visa Fee at Entry Points of Nepal:

    • 15 Days – 30 USD
    • 30 Days – 50 USD
    • 90 Days – 125 USD

Indian nationals do not need to have a visa to enter Nepal however they need to bring an official document such as a Passport or Election card (issued by the Election Commission) that proves their identity.

Q2. Is a visa required for entry into Nepal?

Yes, the majority of travelers to Nepal will need a visa. You can acquire one upon arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu or at land border crossings. Alternatively, you have the option to apply for a visa beforehand at a Nepalese embassy or consulate in your home country.

Q3. As a solo traveler, are you able to join a group for your journey?

Certainly! As a solo traveler, you're welcome to join one of the groups organized by Escape Himalaya. We frequently arrange group treks and tours that cater to individuals traveling alone. Joining a group not only allows you to meet other travelers but also offers the opportunity to share experiences and potentially lower costs.

When reaching out to Escape Himalaya, simply inform us that you're a solo traveler interested in joining a group. We'll then provide details about available group departures and assist you in selecting a trek or tour that aligns with your preferences and travel dates.

Q4. What is your cancellation policy?

Escape Himalaya's cancellation policy states that the initial 20% deposit made upon booking is non-refundable and will be considered a cancellation fee. This policy is effective immediately upon booking confirmation. If you cancel your trip, this deposit is retained by Escape Himalaya.

However, if you have paid more than the 20% deposit, the cancellation fee will be reduced to 20%, and the remaining balance will be refunded via the original payment method.

Alternatively, they offer a flexible postponement policy. You can postpone your trip without any additional charge if you notify them at least one day before the scheduled departure. This allows you to reschedule your trip to a later date without losing your deposit.
