Pokhara

Pokhara located 200 kilometers away from Kathmandu. Pokhara is the second metropolitan city of Nepal and the largest city in the country in terms of area. Despite being a comparatively smaller valley than Kathmandu, Pokhara has a drastic geographical variation within just a few kilometers from north to south of its parameters. The Annapurna Range with three out of ten highest mountains in the world- Dhaulagiri, Annapurna I and Mount Manaslu- are within approximately 15-35 miles of Pokhara Valley. The beautiful valley is also called “the Lake-side City” because of various lakes, rivers and water-bodes it has. Pokhara is a famous destination as a little paradise that is encompassed within the Annapurna Circuit Trek and is the hub for adventure activities. Going along to Ghorepani and Poon Hill, Pokhara adds a lovely sense of adventure and thrill to trekking in the Annapurna region.

Ghorepani  

Ghorepani Located in the north-central region of Nepal. Ghorepani is easily accessible from Pokhara, With a four to five hours trek uphill from Ulleri, Poon Hill and Ghorepani are the easiest trekking journeys to undergo. Situated at the height of 3,210 meters- Poon Hill provides spectacular views of Mount Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, Machhapuchhre and many other ivory mountains. Ghorepani is a small village lying in the Myagdi district. Situated at an elevation of 2,874 meters, Ghorepani lies within the Annapurna Conservation Area (ACA) and contains a number of guesthouses that provides lodging and meals to mountain trekkers who spend the night here before trekking to Poon Hill. Ghorepani used to be a rest stop where ancient traders found water (“Pani” in Nepali) for their horses (“Ghora” in Nepali), thus leading its nomenclature of “Ghorepani”. Ghorepani lies on a major trail linking several other villages as well as the Annapurna Base Camp. Usually, Ghorepani is reached departing from the village of Tikhe Dhunga and then trekking on beautiful trails that are adorned with the quintessence of natural beauty of the terrain for around six to seven hours. The village of Ulleri provides closer observations of Magar and Tamang traditions and their heritage. Visiting small monasteries and Gumbas, Ulleri village is a charming small settlement that is a precious stop on the way to Ghorepani. Climbing up a rocky staircase carved into the natural terrain, the trail to Ghorepani is unique and extremely prepossessing ornamented with the blossoms of verdant rhododendrons and natural canopies of green vegetation and rich foliage that makes the place like a little paradise. Oak forests and alpine woodlands make Ghorepani a lovely village that truly reflects a heaven-like natural atmosphere.

Poon Hill

Poon Hill is a widely popular destination for a close panoramic view of the Himalayas. During the peak season for trekking, many tourists line up for watching the sublime scene of the sunrise amidst the Annapurna Mountains from Poon Hill. So, there is a Poon Hill Sunrise Trek which is very popular among trekkers because the view is nothing like it anywhere else on Earth! When the rays of the sun hits the ivory mountain peaks, the tincture of the cerulean mountains change from snowy to a cascade of burning amber and cascades of molten gold. This phenomenon can be seen from the view point at Poon Hill. Autumn is one of the best seasons for a trip to Poon Hill because the amethyst and red foliage of the Fall adds a mystical aspect to the terrain that makes it all look like something that is taken straight out of a fairy tale book.The journey to Poon Hill also takes you to the village of Ghandruk- a home stay destination and a settlement occupied by Gurung people. Their hospitality is beguiling and humble; the natural scenery even more so.
